Karla is currently producing two feature documentaries for Still Films and has recently been associate producer on releases such as The Red Tree (Paul Rowley, 2018 – currently screening on The Criterion Collection) and New York Our Time (Vivienne Dick, 2020 – winner of the Film Critics Circle ‘Best Doc’ Award at the 2020 Dublin International Film Festival).

Karla has worked on various other shorts and features including Kevin Roche: The Quiet Architect (Mark Noonan, 2017), Frida Think (Maya Derrington, 2018) and was the outreach producer for Lost in France (Niall McCann, 2017). Her background is in media, with a degree in Journalism, and having worked in print publishing management for many years. In 2014 Karla decided to follow her dream and turn her hand to film production. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Masters in Film Studies (finishing with a grade equivalent to a first and a thesis on feminist film). Karla is passionate about the industry and the place where art, politics and film meet. Most recently, Karla served as a Board member for Women in Film&TV Ireland and was director of the Dublin Feminist Film Festival for four years. She has managed offices at successful film&TV production companies such as Deadpan Pictures, and was also on the curatorial panel for Venice Biennale alumna Jesse Jones’ artistic/filmic project No More Fun and Games (The Hugh Lane Gallery). Karla was also Community Engagement Manager for the Granby Park project, transforming a derelict plot into a public art space, and has been involved in numerous other grass roots and artistic projects. Karla regularly appears on panels and has been a guest speaker at events such as Console-ing Passions (A/V, media and feminism conference, 2015, Dublin) and Wanda (Feminism and the Moving Image, Belfast 2018).
