We have lots of exciting festival screenings coming up this month. Hope to see you at some of these.

Our latest feature film THE PARTICIPANTS will screen at Indie Cork on Saturday October 10th at 12:00 noon.

THE PARTICIPANTS In an eerie abandoned world where no adults are to be found, a gang of forgotten children plays games to gain the favour of Mikhail, the self-proclaimed leader of this strange and isolated society. Rebelling against Mikhail’s bullying ways, Emilia, Boris and the bird-like shaman boy Josef devise a plan to escape, twisting the rules to beat Mikhail at his own game.

SHORTS RETROSPECTIVE And right after the feature at 2pm there is a very special retrospective of our short films including work by Anne Maree Barry, Eoghan Kidney, Darren Bolger, Teemu Auersalo, Caroline Campbell, Nicky Gogan, Paul Rowley, David Phillips, Maya Derrington and others.

From the festival catalogue: This jam-packed programme of short films and animations, intercut with excerpts from artist films and features,brings together ten years of ground-breaking work from this group of collaborators that continues to challenge and push boundaries in film.

Still Films directors Paul Rowley and Nicky Gogan will be in attendance at both screenings.

They will also be giving a talk at Crawford Art College the day before at 2pm which is open to the public. DLT CCAD Sharman Crawford Street.

// OFFLINE FESTIVAL BIRR //
Filmed just down the road from the festival in Lough Boora Parklands, THE PARTICIPANTS will be coming back to Offaly for a screening at the OFFLINE festival on Saturday October 10th in Birr. The screening is at 7pm and Director and Producer will be there as well as many of the local cast of the film.

Our latest Frameworks animation A COAT MADE DARK was recently awarded a special mention at this year’s Galway Film Festival. The film is going on to festivals now including screening in competition at Indie Cork on Thursday 8th @ 4:30 and as part of the Still Films shorts screening on Saturday the 10th at 2pm, Brno 16 (14-17th October) Liverpool Irish festival, (19/20th October), Banja Luka (23-28th October), and Cutout Fest (12-15 November) Directed by Jack O’Shea, produced by Damien Byrne, and executive produced for Still Films by Caroline Campbell.

Amidst the heat and haze of Uganda’s bustling capital Kampala, a rapidly growing breakdance movement is producing some of the best hip-hop dancers in Africa. When the artistic director of Breakin’ Convention Festival in London, Jonzi D, arrives in Uganda to find an African crew for his festival, local company Tabu Flo decides to explore a controversial local belief in the Abasezi or Nightdancers, a secret community said to possess supernatural powers to resurrect the dead through ritual dances on their tombs. ‘Abasezi’ is a powerful portrait of a modern interconnected African youth taking their place on a global stage.
